“Obstacles (kleshas) are the breeding floor for tendencies (samskaras) that give rise to actions and the penalties (karma) thereof. Such obstacles are skilled as seen or invisible obstacles.” 
Yoga Sutra 2.12

This sutra asks you to take an in depth take a look at the kleshas (private obstacles) that form your intentions—and ultimately your karma. The 5 kleshas are avidya (ignorance), asmita (over-identifying together with your ego), raga (want, or attachment to pleasure), dvesha (avoidance), and abhinivesha (attachment and worry).
